On Friday July 12th after work, I participated in the Lights for Liberty march on E. Jefferson in Detroit. Regardless of what your politics are, we should all be appalled at the way this administration is treating immigrants and people seeking asylum. The separation of children from their parents and the conditions at the camps are horrific.
What You Can Do
There are many non-profits working to alleviate the problems at the border. Here are some links. If you are able, consider making a donation.
One website that has a great deal of information about immigration issues is the Catholic Legal Immigration Network. They have a nice fact sheet on family separations that you can use to share the information with family, friends, and neighbors.
